Dynamo-Lazio: Comments from Anderson and Inzaghi

Lazio attacker Felipe Anderson praised his sides defending in the 2-0 victory away to Dynamo Kiev as he stated “we were aware we could bring home the result.”

The 2-2 draw in Rome was a disappointment, but the Aquile became the first side to beat Dynamo Kiev on their own turf this season with a 2-0 result.

Lucas Leiva’s header and a Stefan De Vrij tap-in (both from Luis Alberto corners), booked their spot in the Europa League quarter-finals.

“We were solid and worked really hard to keep our shape,” the Brazilian told Sky Sport Italia.

“We knew that if we kept a clean sheet here, we could cause them real problems and were fully aware that we could bring home the result.”

“The more mature players in the squad helped the rest keep calm. The Coach always puts his faith in us, regardless of results. Now we have to take it one game at a time and concentrate on Serie A, because one of our objectives is to finish in the top four – “We want to go as far as possible in the Europa League as well.”

Meanwhile,

Simone Inzaghi “can’t ask for more” from Lazio after they reached the Europa League quarter-finals. “We’ve gone beyond expectations.”

The Biancocelesti had the odds against them after a 2-2 first leg result at the Olimpico, but emerged 2-0 winners away to Dynamo Kiev thanks to goals from Lucas Leiva and Stefan De Vrij.

It could’ve easily been three or four more, as Ciro Immobile was wasteful, Patric fired over an open goal and the Dynamo goalkeeper should’ve been sent off for handling the ball of outside the box.

“I have to compliment the lads, as they put in a great performance and deserved our place in the quarter-finals, which wasn’t easy,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The lads were wonderful and we fully deserved our win. We prepared this game well, were always solid, sharp and never lost our shape.”

“I can’t ask for any more from this squad, (which won the Italian Super Cup: at this moment we are into the quarter finals of the Europa League and our position in the Serie A gives us qualification for the Champions League – I tip my hat to this team.”
