Peru and Alianza Lima defender Miguel Araujo is turning out to be one of the hottest interests in world football lately, with rumours that clubs from Germany, Portugal and England, as well as Italy, are looking at signing him.
Yesterday, we announced that Lazio are monitoring him and looking to buy him to replace De Vrij in defense.
His agent spoke about the Lazio rumours, saying: “We always talk to a lot of people at other clubs, but for now there has been no talks with Lazio. There has not been any direct contact with the club yet and we have to wait for any interest to lead to a more formal negotiation.”
He continued: “We have been in the United States for friendly matches and we have noticed a considerable presence of scouts and managers from different European teams, we can not say who because that’s confidential information, but there were German, Portuguese and English observers.”
So, if it appears Lazio are really interested in buying the player as De Vrij’s replacement, they will face tough competition from other teams around Europe.
Who will end up buying the player? Do you think Tare and Lazio are really interested in bringing him to the Stadio Olimpico? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter @The_Laziali
