Transfer Talk: former Lazio striker Zarate: ‘Return to Lazio? A dream. If Inzaghi wants me…’

Mauro Zàrate, former number 10 and attacker of Lazio, sat down to talk with Radio Incontro Olympia about his career, not hiding his love for the Biancoceleste club: “The impact Lazio had on me was terrific. It never ended truly and purely, but memories were definitely made. My goal was probably to have the most beautiful career possible and I tried my best to have exactly that. The last year I was at Lazio, perhaps I suffered a bit from the absence of Goran Pandev in attack, but Cristian Ledesma was also important in my success. I then made a mistake in leaving Lazio at the time. I regretted it a lot later”.

ON TODAY’S LAZIO: “Where would I see myself in Lazio’s squad? Surely behind Ciro Immobile, or next to Luis Alberto and Felipe Anderson. The team is doing very well. For Immobile, you have to take off your ha and give him a round of applause. With his goals he is carrying the team. Simone Inzaghi was my team-mate, I would have never imagined one day to be able to see him in the coach’s uniform! He was not so serious before – he was just a nuisance. He always made fun of you for the clothing you had”.

ON HIS POTENTIAL RETURN TO THE CAPITAL: “Return to Lazio one day? I think it’s impossible. I would love to come back and play in this team with Simone, but we must also see if the coach wants me. It would be a dream. Lazio is in my heart and I will never forget the Biancocelesti fans”.
