After the success of both Thomas Strakosha and Luiz Felipe at Salernitana, Lazio might yet again try to fish the Salerno waters for a potential sensation for next season. Lazio, it appears, have turned their attention to Tiago Casasola – remember the name.
Lazio and Lotito are said to be thinking about a potential move to Rome for the versatile Argentinian Casasola, born 1995 – as a potential long-term signing for the side. Casasola is known as a “jolly” and able to play in both midfield and in defence, as a central defender or on either wing. He is able to play in all three slots at the back which would be appreciated by Inzaghi. Tiago is well built, 188 cm and 84 kg, but still has some speed and good positioning. He also possesses a good right foot and a nice shot, being able to score from distance. Furthermore, he has scored 6 goals this season.
Despite his young age, he has already played more than 100 games as a pro. At the start of his career, he played in the youth setups of Argentine sides Huracan and Boca Juniors, before joining Championship side Fulham. He left London on a free transfer in 2015, heading for Italy and became a part of the Roma youth sector where he was loaned out to Como and Trapani. He was later purchased by Alessandria in Summer 2017, before leaving for Salernitana in January 2018. He has had full confidence from current coach Colantuono in Salernitana.
Tiago is feeling fine in Salerno and has a contract with “I Granata” until 2020. But, if Lazio and Lotito decides otherwise, he would certainly be on the plane to Rome.
Would you welcome Tiago Casasola at Lazio with open arms? Or is he just another youth prospect for the future?
