Lazio face trouble from Spanish Giants Barcelona for Luis Alberto and Fabian Ruiz

There is no doubt that Lazio is starting to look around the market to reinforce the squad, especially if they manage to reach the Champions League next season. With defender Stefan De Vrij set to leave on a free transfer next season, and many clubs keeping tabs on Serbian Midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Lazio not only has to protect their current players from leaving but also look to improve Inzaghi’s squad for next season.

One of the names that has landed in Sporting Director Igli Tare’s notebook to bring to the Capital is that of Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz, the young talent of La Liga side Real Betis. At 22 years of age, the Spaniard has been one of the key talking points surrounding the Betis squad and Spanish football of late, and this has led to Spanish clubs Valencia and Barcelona having also made an interest in the player. With 32 appearances this season, and 3 goals and 6 assists to his name, he has received a 7.16 average rating from whoscored.com with an 86.6% passing success percentage. Known for his dribbling, passing and shooting abilities, he would be a key part of the Lazio team moving forward if Claudio Lotito are able to pull the transfer off.

On the other hand, one of Lazio’s current Spanish players has received lots of interest from his home country – once again Barcelona being one of those parties. The former Liverpool man was sold to Lazio in the summer of 2016 for a fee of only €4 million after starting his career in Spain. He has now become a star at Lazio and is flourishing under current manager Simone Inzaghi, one of Tare’s many amazing purchases for the club. He has made 45 appearances in all competitions for the biancocelesti this season scoring 12 goals and providing 17 assists. When we take a look back earlier in the year, Lazio refused two important offers for Luis Alberto, one of which was an Italian club, the other a Spanish side. Jesùs Alvarado, a reporter very close to all Spanish news in Sevilla reported the offers; the first from Napoli, and the next from Sevilla. However, both proposals were declined. He further confirmed this when he tweeted out “Luis Alberto, unfortunately, is completely beyond our capacity. I’ll tell you that in the winter market Sevilla tried to take him with an offer of about 20 million euros and Lazio refused. They also rejected 30 million euros from Napoli”.
