Manchester United leading race for Lazio midfield sensation Milinkovic-Savic

Once again the talk of Europe is all about the future of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have pulled out of the race to sign the Serbian Midfielder next season because of his valuation – Manchester United have now moved into pole position to sign the midfielder, who is expected to leave for no less than £80million (the asking price from President Claudio Lotito).

After many spectacular performances, there is no doubt that Milinkovic has been one of the key players in Lazio’s success and stars of the Serie A this 2017/18 season. Entrusted by coach Simone Inzaghi, he has become a regular for the team starting in the central midfield alongside Marco Parolo and Lucas Leiva. He once again scored this past weekend in the 1-0 victory over Torino with a powerful header off a Luis Alberto corner taking him to a tally of 13 goals in all competitions this season.

After the match, Milinkovic-Savic was seen talking with his agents Kezman and Uros Jankovic and many have assumed that the main talking point was surrounding his club for next season.

So far, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked to the midfielder, but it has been reported that Milinkovic is more attracted to play for Spanish giants Barcelona out of all the interested parties.

Like previously mentioned however, they are not willing to pay the asking price set by Lazio director Igil Tare and President Claudio Lotito who insisted they will not sell the 23-year-old for any less than their valuation.

Lazio are also reluctant to sell Milinkovic-Savic as they are already bracing themselves for the departure of centre back Stefan de Vrij this summer.

We are yet to see what holds in store for the midfielder, but from us at The Laziali, we hope we are able to make the Champions League and keep the Serbian sensation to give a good run in the competition!
