Joseph Minala’s gift to acid victim Filomena Lamberti

Joseph Minala of Lazio, currently playing for Serie B side Salernitana

Lazio’s talented midfielder Joseph Minala (now on loan at Salernitana) might be coming back to Rome – or at least Lazio’s annual summer camp in Auronzo – in order to try to convince Coach Simone Inzaghi of a permanent stay in the Lazio squad next season.

Minala has been a regular for Salernitana this season and even if the club has gone through their up’s and down’s, Minala has proven to have developed as a midfielder. Lazio is said to have watched his development closely as they have high hopes of the player. In due time they want to provide him the ability to play in the senior squad of the Biancoceleste.

The Cameroonian has made 37 appearances for the Serie B side this season, scoring 4 times and assisting another 12. He is also quite the aggressive player as he has 12 yellow cards in this tenure: he plays as a center midfielder and is only 21-years-old; a player with a long and bright future ahead of him.

Recently, Joseph has got attention for his actions off the pitch. He made a special visit to Filomena Lamberti, a woman that after years of violence and abuse was disfigured with acid by her husband. A gesture that moved everyone, he had an appeal on social networks to get in touch with Filomena and managed to reach and meet her.

Filomena lives in Salerno, and Minala wanted to give her a Salernitana shirt with his name on it. A personal initiative of the player, who has received many messages of affection for the beautiful gesture.

“This is the shirt I promised to Mrs. Filomena, I really wanted to give it to her personally”, were Minala’s words.

How would you like to see the midfielder in a Lazio jersey next season: do you think Lazio have room in their current squad?
