Report: Lazio to receive €50M+ transfer budget from Claudio Lotito

In the past few years, it is no lie that Claudio Lotito has developed a reputation for being somewhat of a tight spender. His reluctance to open his wallet has left Lazio struggling behind the big spenders of Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan; as well as unable to catch the quality of Napoli and Roma. After Lazio’s 3-2 defeat at home to Inter, which saw them miss out on Champions League football, the thoughts amongst the biancoceleste fans were that we’d be facing another summer of shrewd spending.

However, the latest reports from CalcioMercato are suggesting that Lazio could be given between €50 and €60 million, with Lotito a huge fan of the Inzaghi project. After missing out on the Champions League, and the €40 million associated with it, it is more important now than ever that Lazio rally and make the most of the summer transfer window.

With Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Felipe Anderson and Ciro Immobile all rumoured to be on their way out of the club, Lazio must use the funds available to rebuild. Since Lotito became chairman, Lazio have placed a huge emphasis on growing and developing their youth; aiming to make a profit off of cheap signings.

In recent days, Mateo Kovacic, Lucas Perez and Francesco Acerbi have been linked with moves to the Olimpico and a budget of €50 million+ should be enough to allow Lazio to challenge once again for Champions League football next season.
