Stefan De Vrij is no longer to be a Lazio player. After gifting a penalty to Inter after a rash, careless tackle on Icardi, you would assume that he will not be missed. However, the situation is far more dire; Lazio are in desperate need of a new, quality centre-back. The latest name that CittaCeleste have pulled up is Sassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi.

Acerbi is 30 years old and the Italian has played for Sassuolo since July of 2013. Over the past five years, he has played in over 170 games in all competitions for Sassuolo, scoring 11 times. Before Sassuolo, Acerbi spent a year on loan at Chievo from Genoa, where he was signed from AC Milan for a small fee of just €5 million in January of 2013. In the summer 2013, Sassuolo came in with a €3.5 million bid for Acerbi, and the Italian has turned out to be a star for them ever since.

This season, Francesco Acerbi has played 41 games in Serie A and Coppa Italia and has impressed with a 6.96 average rating, according to WhoScored. In addition, Acerbi has completed an average of 85% of passes this season, won 2.7 aerial duels per game and made 6.4 average clearances each match.

TransferMarkt value Francesco Acerbi at just over €10 million and the former Milan played could prove to be a valuable addition to the Lazio side.
