Report: Lazio to move for Manchester City target Eder Militão

As talented Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij heads for his Lazio exit, to rivals Inter Milan, Lazio have been working on his replacement for the past few months. Many names have been listed so far, with experienced and young players alike on the Biancoceleste shopping list. However, CalcioMercato are reporting that Eder Militão, Sao Paulo’s 20-year-old Brazilian defender, is the new name floating around.

Eder Militão has been a target for some top European clubs for some time now, including Premier League champions Manchester City. He is an extremely versatile player, able to play at centre-back, defensive midfield and right-back. He primarily features as a centre-back, but his versatility will make him a very attractive option for Lazio.

Militão has been a part of the Sao Paulo set-up since 2005, when he joined as a youth player at the age of 8. Since then, he has played 25 games for the first team, after being only promoted from the youth ranks in 2017. This season, he has featured at RB, scoring once in 5 games and with an average tackles-per-game of 2.8; with a further 4.8 clearances on average per-game.

TransferMarkt value Eder Militão at around €2.5 million and it is thought that Lazio would not have to pay more than €10 million if they wanted to secure his signature. The problem is facing off competition from Manchester City but the Premier League champions may wish to pick a bigger name.
