News came out recently that Lazio director Igli Tare had a four-hour long meeting with Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o at the training ground Formello. Eto’o made his name well-known coming up through the Barcelona ranks after a move as a young player from big rivals Real Madrid. He then later played with Inter and also had a short stint with Sampdoria in the Serie A. The now 37-year old has lately been playing in Turkey with Konyaspor and will probably soon end his playing career.

The reported talks between Lazio and Eto’o in Rome started some talks to what the veteran forward would be up to now. Was he really an option for Lazio? LaLazioSiamoNoi have now shed some light on the real reason behind Eto’o’s visit to the Formello.

Eto’o actually has ambitions of becoming an agent in the coming future. The topic of discussions is said the be about the Cameroonian striker Karl Toko Ekambi that plays in French side Angers. Ekambi, born in 1992, started off his career at Paris FC, scoring 21 goals in four seasons with the 3rd division side before earning a move to Sochaux in Ligue 2 in 2014 where he managed 25 goals in two seasons. The six-foot-tall forward then signed for Ligue 1 side Angers (his current team) for just 1 million euros in 2016. Ekambi scored 17 goals in the past season and reportedly fits the profile for Lazio as well as many other Italian clubs. France Football has earlier suggested Ekambi to be a good match for Lazio.

The price tag to secure Ekambi is now reported to be something between 15 to 20 million euros, but Ekambi is said to firstly be wanting a move to the Premier League. English side Brighton & Hove Albion were reported to have made a bid for Ekambi earlier in the year but it was quickly rejected.

Perhaps Lazio’s talk to Eto’o could be fruitful to Lazio’s attempts to persuade Ekambi of a move to Italy instead.
