Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia left Lazio and moved to Milan last summer, with the hopes of being able to collect some trophies in the twilight years of his career. However, Biglia’s nor Milan’s season has gone as they would have hoped for, both on the pitch and outside the pitch.

Lucas Biglia has failed to impress this season, to many a Laziali’s delight, with his successor and name-sharer Lucas Leiva performing extraordinarily well for Lazio this season.

The Milan midfielder even thought his World Cup hopes were at risk after recovering in record time from a back fracture, only to then be clattered from behind by Papu Gomez during a 1-1 draw with Atalanta.

Milan managed, after a rough start under Vincenzo Miontella, to reach 6th position in Serie A and and a spot in the Europa League. At least for now.

The problem for the Rossoneri is that they now face potential punishment from UEFA for not meeting the FFP requirements and their settlement agreement was recently rejected.

A verdict from UEFA is thought to be issued in the middle of June with the possibility that Milan could be suspended from Europa League or have a transfer embargo this summer. If Milan would miss the Europa League, Fiorentina would take their place in the qualifying round.

But Milan also has further installments to complete regarding the purchaee of Lucas Biglia of around 10 million euros. This could, according to La Repubblica, mean that Milan has to settle their debt by sending players to Lazio.

Lazio’s dream would, of course, be Alessio Romagnoli, the outspoken Laziale, but Milan’s and Gattuso’s valuation for the centreback is too high (~ €40 million).

Instead it could mean that Milan would sacrifice players like Fabio Borini, Manuel Locatelli (could work as a vice-Leiva and an alternative to Parolo), Davide Calabria or Mateo Musacchio.
