Back in April, we had reported that Lazio were chasing the signature of Iranian forward Sardar Azmoun

Azmoun signed for Kazan initially in 2013 from Iranian club Sepahan FC on a free transfer. He spent 2 years at Kazan before spending two years out on loan at Rostov. He eventually signed for Rostov for a fee of around €2.3 million, where he spent just one season before moving back to Kazan on a free transfer. According to TransferMarkt, Azmoun has a current market value of €9 million.

Lazio were reportedly close to securing the Iranian’s signature last summer, so it is thought that he will remain the number #1 attacking target for this summer.

Today, rumours have re-emerged around the interest in the player by the club

Lazio are moving on the transfer market once again. One of Igli Tare’s goals must be finding a reinforcement for the attack. A main reason for this is due to Nani and Caicedo – the only other strikers – most likely leaving the Capital of Italy after a lacklustre season. Also, Immobile can not guarantee the totality of offensive Biancoceleste weight – he needs a shoulder that if necessary can also support him in attack, giving him a break. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio could re-launch a pursuit for Sardar Azmoun, Rubin Kazan’s striker.

Over last summer, Tare tried until the end to bring the player to Rome, but failed. The Iranian is of 23-years of age, and managed 6 goals and 3 assists in all competitions this year in 28 matches. An aerial threat at 186 cm, the striker knows how to put the ball in the net with his finishing ability. However, with a very low pass success rate at around 66%, this is definitely one of the weaker aspects to his game, as he is quick to lay off the ball, sometimes giving possession away too easily.

An Iranian International, Azmoun will be playing for his home country in the upcoming World Cup, something fans and the club will be keeping an eye out for.
