Report: Lazio and Ciro Immobile near contract agreement

All sorts of reports have emerged recently over the future of Ciro Immobile. AC Milan had appeared as favourites, before the firm hand of UEFA appeared, threatening punishment over the Milan club’s breach of Financial Fair Play regulations. Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur were also rumoured to be interested; yet the latest reports from CittaCeleste are indicating that Immobile could well be staying on at Lazio.

Ciro Immobile was ever present for Lazio this season and was one of the highest scoring players in Europe’s top 5 leagues. He scored 41 goals in 47 games in all competitions, assisting a further nine and with seven MOTM awards. After Italy’s failure to reach the World Cup, Immobile will have the next month and a half off, letting his agent deal with any potential movement.

According to CittaCeleste, Lazio owner Claudio Lotito values Ciro Immobile at €60 million and despite his contract not set to expire until 2022, talks have been held to sort out an extension and a wage increase. Ciro is reported to be receiving €2 million a year, making him Lazio’s highest paid player yet a possible rise could see him earn up to €3 million a year.

The feeling is that Lazio and Immobile want to continue their partnership and Immobile’s agent will be trying, first and foremost, to arrange a new deal to keep the King at the Olimpico.
