According to a report by CittaCelesteLazio could make a move for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, who will return to La Dea after a loan spell at Fiorentina last season.

The report describes Inzaghi’s want for a second choice goalkeeper, with Sportiello very much on the radar of Lazio sporting director Igli Tare, in addition to the fact that he is admired by the legendary Lazio goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi.

Atalanta value Sportiello at €5M and Lotito has already spoken to president Antonio Percassi but Sportiello himself might not be so keen on playing second fiddle to Thomas Strakosha, who solidified his place as Lazio’s number one last season. The prospect of Europa League football, however, could prove tempting.

Sportiello made thirty-seven appearances for Fiorentina last season, conceding thirty-eight goals and keeping fifteen clean sheets. Despite this, he is unlikely to dethrone Etrit Berisha from the number one spot at Atalanta, meaning that he will likely be at a new club come August.

This report comes after rumours that Thomas Strakosha’s performances have caught the eye of Liverpool, with the Reds looking to replace Loris Karius after his poor performance during their Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

What do you think of a potential move for Sportiello? Do you think he would make a suitable replacement for Strakosha should he leave? Leave your thoughts below in the comments!
