One of Lazio’s main priorities this summer is to reinforce their midfield, especially with Danilo Cataldi and Davide Di Gennaro set for exits from the club this summer. In recent weeks the Bianocelesti have been linked with several midfielders: Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Vicenzo Grifo, free agent Milan Badelj, and Sporting Lisbon’s Marcos Acuña; but today a new name has emerged.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Lazio have been expressed interest in Villarreal’s Roberto Soriano. Soriano already has Serie A experience having played in the competition with Sampdoria for 4 seasons. The 27 year-old then joined Villarreal in the summer of 2016 for €13.75 million from the Blucerchiati.

His first season in Spain went extremely well, scoring 10 goals and providing 7 assists in 33 La Liga appearances. However, this season has seemed to have stalled after registering no goals or assists in 30 appearances this season. A return to Serie A could be just what Soriano needs to revitalize his career.

The Italian is versatile enough to play a variety of midfield roles and other Italian teams – Atalanta and Sampdoria – are also interested in acquiring his services this summer. Soriano’s entourage met with Villarreal management to discuss a possible summer exit from the club and a €15 million price tag has been set.
