Lazio’s first official departure is that of Serbian Filip Djordjevic, as he agreed to a three year contract with Chievo on a free transfer. The 30-year-old centre-forward was frozen out by Lazio all of last season without making a single appearance for the club. There were rumors in the January transfer window that Chievo was interested in the Serb and finally both parties agreed to a deal. Djordjevic made 77 appearances for Lazio, scoring 16 goals with 5 assists.
Djordjevic will welcome another challenge after Lazio failed to give him a chance once Ciro Immobile had broken into the first team. An unfortunate casualty of the game, the Serbian will attempt to reignite his career at the Verona-based club. Djordjevic signed for Lazio from French club FC Nantes on a free transfer in 2014 and even has fourteen international appearances to his name.
Is it the right time for Djordjevic to be let go? Do you think he would’ve done a better job than Felipe Caicedo as vice-Immobile for last season? Let us know!
