As reported over the weekend, Sporting Director Perinetti confirmed that Lazio have enquired about midfielder Diego Laxalt
To talk about the future of the Uruguayan footballer, the sporting director of the Rossoblu Giorgio Perinetti spoke to the microphones of Vocegiallorossa: “Diego Laxalt? Roma had him in mind in January, but for now there is nothing. Now Lazio has asked about him.”
Known for his good crossing and dribbling abilities, Diego Laxalt would probably be an ideal replacement for Senad Lulic that seems destined to take the step to play more as a central midfielder next season. Laxalt also knows Italian football well, after his arrival from Defensor Sporting to Inter in 2013.
This afternoon, Gianluca Di Marzio has reported the news himself via “Calciomercato L’Originale”
There are not just the rumors about departures of biancocelesti players such as Milinkovic Savic and Immobile for Lazio – there is also much talk of the arrivals. In fact, there is a record of contacts between Presidents Claudio Lotito (Lazio) and Enrico Preziosi (Genoa).
On the plate of discussion, is Uruguayan midfielder Diego Laxalt, born in 1993. For three years he has been at Genoa – now 25 years of age- and is looking for new adventures after 34 seasonal appearances this past year, providing three goals and three assists.
This is demonstrated by the fact that with the player, there would be no problem in finding an agreement with the Roman side – the more complicated discussion, is with Genoa, who would only want cash, while Igli Tare and Lotito would seem more willing to offer players in exchange to lower the price.
Lazio have done some business with Genoa before, but it has been all one-way traffic with the Biancocelesti always the team sending players to the Rossoblu in the recent past:
- Giuseppe Sculli on loan in 2013/14
- Matuzalém in 2013/14
- Danilo Cataldi on loan in 2016/17
- Santiago Gentiletti for £450k in 2016/17
Today, is has also been confirmed that Federico Marchetti will become the new number one goalie at Genoa, due to the departure of Perin to Juventus, and his contract expiring with Lazio this year.
The parties are far apart for Laxalt, but the interest is concrete.
