Report: Arsenal named as outsiders in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic race

The transfer saga revolving around Lazio’s Serbian midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, rages on. Juventus and Manchester United have both reportedly had bids rejected, whilst Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been on the outside. Now, Radiosei’s Giulio Cardone has added more to the discussion with the revelation that Arsenal are also interested in Milinkovic-Savic’s signature.

Cardone says that “the teams that are really on the player are Manchester United and PSG. Then there are two others who have shown interest: Arsenal and Real Madrid. These two clubs have offered more money to the player, but do not come close to the figures offered by other clubs for the transfer itself.”

With Unai Emery’s appointment at Arsenal, it is clear that the club are attempting a rebuild. However, the astronomical €130 million+ that Lazio are after for Milinkovic-Savic will surely put the North London club off.

Milinkovic-Savic had a brilliant season for Lazio, scoring twelve Serie A goals and receiving 7 man-of-the-match awards in just 33 appearances. The 23-year-old Serbian has been one of Lazio’s stand-out stars this season but the thought amongst the biancoceleste camp is that, should an acceptable offer come in, Milinkovic-Savic will not be a Lazio player come-September.
