Report: Lazio agree terms with Acerbi but €15m price-tag not met

As Lazio keep up the chase for a replacement for Stefan De Vrij, the latest reports from CittaCeleste suggest that terms between the club and Francesco Acerbi have been agreed. However, the current stumbling block seems to be the difference in valuation considered by Lazio and Sassuolo, Acerbi’s current club. Sassuolo price the 30-year-old defender at €15 million, whilst Lazio just consider him at a €10 million value maximum.

Lazio are said to be offering €1.8 million per season in wages to the player and he is certainly interested in moving to Rome. At 30-years-old, €15 million is considered to be an unrealistic valuation of Acerbi and Lotito and Tare will be trying their best to complete the deal for as cheap as possible.

Acerbi had a solid and reliable season at the back for a Sassuolo side who underperformed offensively; playing all 38 Serie A games for the club, and another 3 in Coppa Italia. On average, he achieved 1.3 tackles, 2.3 interceptions, 6.4 clearances and 4.9 long balls per game. In addition to this, he made an average of 42.3 passes per game, Sassuolo’s 2nd highest for this.

Although completing the signing of Francesco Acerbi would not solve all of Lazio’s problems, it would go a long way to make the post-De Vrij era much easier.
