Report: Lazio interested in EA Guingamp defender Pedro Rebocho

After a campaign that fell just short of Champions League qualification, Lazio will be looking to improve their roster this summer in order to make a stronger push towards the top four next season.

The Biancocelesti suffered from a notoriously leaky defence that will need a lot of improvement this summer, especially with Stefan De Vrij leaving for Inter. Lazio allowed more goals this season, 49, than any other team in the top nine places so this will be an area that the team desperately needs to focus on if they want to see major improvements next season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Lazio have shown interest in Guingamp defender Pedro Rebocho. Rebocho grew up playing in Benfica’s youth academy and played one season in Liga Nos for Moreirense FC. The left back then completed a €550,000 move to Guingamp last summer. In his first Ligue 1 season, Rebocho made 24 appearances across all competitions and registered a pair of assists. His strong play last season has garnered a lot of attention in France.

Marseille are also reportedly interested in the Portuguese defender. However, the French giants also failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League which bodes well for Lazio’s chances of landing him this summer.

A switch to Lazio would mean Rebocho will have played in three different European top flights in three seasons which could be a lot for him, but he would still be a valuable reinforcement for Lazio’s defensive ranks.
