As Lazio look to bolster their midfield options in the run up to the 2018/19 Serie A season, a name that we have reported on recently is Atalanta’s Remo Freuler. Lazio fans will be watching the World Cup with eager eyes at Freuler is part of the Switzerland squad in Russia; and Laziale everywhere will be itching to get a sight of their potential signing.
Freuler, speaking to Corriere dello Sport, revealed that “[it is] an honour to hear that Lazio want me. I am very happy with this interest, but I do not want to talk about the market, my agent will sit at the table with Atalanta after the World Cup.”
Remo Freuler, primarily a central or central-defensive midfielder, played 35 times in the 17/18 Serie A season; scoring five times, assisting a further three and picking up 3 MOTM awards. Furthermore, Freuler achieved an average pass accuracy of 88.1%, 1.4 key passes, 62 total passes and 2.1 long balls per game.
Freuler, 26, would be an exciting addition to Lazio’s midfield; able to cover for both the ageing Marco Parolo and Lucas Leiva – as well as putting less pressure on Senad Lulic to stay fit all season long. Atalanta would likely require a bid of around €15 million for the player’s services and Lazio will gladly wait till after the World Cup; when the Milinkovic-Savic saga is likely to be concluded too.
