Yesterday, we covered the words from Atalanta’s Swiss midfielder Remo Freuler, who said that it would be “an honour” to play for Lazio. The Swiss international said he will be waiting until after the World Cup to decide his future; but that coming to Rome has an appeal.
Now, the latest reports from CittaCeleste claim that Lazio could have an important counter-weight to use in the talks for Freuler. That counter-weight is Danilo Cataldi, the controversial Italian midfielder.
Cataldi received threats and heat from fans and ultras when he celebrated Pandev’s goal for Genoa against Lazio in the 16/17 season. Cataldi has never really been forgiven, spending last season out on loan at Serie A newcomers Benevento.
With Benevento relegated, Cataldi returns to Lazio; but for how long. If Lazio can make a deal with Atalanta for Freuler and receive a cash discount through the inclusion of Cataldi, there is no doubt that Lotito would take that option.
