Report: Lazio close to Francesco Acerbi as negotiations enter decisive week

One of the Lazio transfer sagas that we’ve covered a lot over the past few months is the push to bring in Sassuolo centre-back Francesco Acerbi.

Acerbi, 30, is seen as one of the ideal candidates for Lazio to fill the Stefan de Vrij shaped hole with. Although Acerbi is older, and probably not quite as good, he is a reliable defender nonetheless and would add something to Lazio’s sometimes-shaky back line.

Now, according to LaLaziosiamonoi, the difference in value at the negotiation table is now just €2 million and this week could prove decisive in the defender’s future. It is believed that Sassuolo have valued Acerbi at €12 million; whilst Lotito is unwilling to spend any more than €10 million.

However, Sassuolo’s general manager, Giovanni Carnevali, is thought to want to get the deal wrapped up and could ask for the inclusion of a counter-part, possibly in the form of Danilo Cataldi. With both parties interested, we could see a deal agreed within a week to bring Acerbi to the Olimpico.
