Report: Sampdoria’s Dennis Praet wanted by Lazio as Milinkovic-Savic replacement

As the Sergej Milinkovic-Savic transfer saga draws on, with a number of Europe’s top clubs battling for the Serbian’s signature, Lazio hunt for a potential replacement. LaLaziosiamonoi are reporting that the latest name on Lazio’s radar is Sampdoria’s Dennis Praet.

Praet, 24, has been at Sampdoria for nearly 2 years. He signed from Anderlecht for around €12 million in August 2016. Praet’s current contract expires in 2021 but it is thought that a number of clubs are interested in his services. Juventus and Lazio seem to be the current suitors.

Dennis Praet, for Lazio, would be an immediate replacement for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. At just 24, Praet is just a year older than Sergej and positionally, they play very similar roles. Praet played primarily as a central-midfielder for Sampdoria in the 17/18 season, similarly to where Sergej played in Inzaghi’s 3-5-1-1. However, Praet, like Sergej, is by all means a central attacking-midfielder, whilst also able to play out on the left.

The Belgian won’t come cheap and could likely cost Lazio around €30 million to complete; a figure that Lotito is unlikely to part with. For the pursuit of Praet to continue, Lazio must first conclude the saga revolving around Milinkovic-Savic. If the Serbian stays, there is no need for Praet. However, if he leaves, Lazio should act fast.
