According to Italian outlet Il Messaggero, Lazio are preparing a big deal in order to swoop for Portuguese winger Gelson Martins.

Gelson Martins is available on a free transfer, having terminated his contract at Sporting Lisbon, alongside six other teammates as a mark of protest against the attack on Lisbon’s training ground last month. Martins has been on the radar of many top clubs, Arsenal and Liverpool have been named as favourites in recent weeks, yet Lazio may act first.

The offer is reportedly worth €2 million a year, for five years.

Martins, 23, is young and full of potential; could well be the ideal replacement for Felipe Anderson, should the Brazilian complete a move away from Lazio this summer. If Lazio strike first, they could achieve a huge coup; beating the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to one of the world’s top young talents.

We can only wait and see how the contract offer goes but it seems that Lazio are working very hard to complete signings during the World Cup.
