La Repubblica newspaper claim Lazio are still keen on RB Salzburg’s midfielder Valon Berisha. The Kosovo international is said to be available for 7 million euros, although the player’s reported unwillingness to play in Italy and DS Igli Tare’s relationship with SEG could be viewed as obstacles to overcome.
Berisha is born in Sweden, of Kosovo Albanian ethnicity. He started his career in Norway with Egersund and Viking, before moving to Austria back in 2012 to play for Salzburg. Now 25-years of age, Berisha has made 230 appearances for the club in all competitions, managing 45 goals and 65 assists.
Coming off one of his best seasons yet for the Austrian side, he had 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions, including the Europa League campaign in which he faced off against Lazio in an eventual aggregate victory over two legs. This is where he received the compliments and interest of Igli Tare and Lazio.
Sampdoria were close to signing the player after the club had agreed terms with Salzburg and the player. He even came to the see the city and facilities before sitting down to sign the contract, but he had his doubts, and the deal was closed as a failure 3 days ago. Now it is Lazio’s turn to try to convince the player to come to the Serie A.
Can Lazio overcome their SEG Agency issues and be the club to bring Berisha to Italy?
