As reported last night by Gianluca Di Marzio on Calciomercato L’Originale, Valon Berisha has snubbed Sampdoria and is now set to join Lazio, who have been evaluating the player for quite some time. The fee is reported to be €8 million – it is a real steal for a player of Berisha’s quality and experience. He has played in European and International competition with his nation of Kosovo, and he is also very versatile, capable of playing on the wing or inside as a centrocampista. The biancocelesti are now sorting the final details with the player, in what will be Lazio’s second official signing.
LaLazioSiamoNoi have also reported that Berisha has ended his relationship with agency SEG, who gave Lazio trouble with Stefan De Vrij. This could pave the way for a much smoother signing process.
Berisha will fit perfectly into Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-1-1 formation, inserting him in the middle 3, or pushing him out the left flank. At 25-years of age, he still has plenty of time left to play football, and many fans are hoping that he joins Lazio and becomes a key part of the side moving forward. He is also of Albanian descent – this is one of Sporting Director Igli Tare’s specialized skills, as we have seen him pull off transfers for players that are of his nationality, time and time again.
We will continue to follow the negotiations to see if the deal is able to be finalized, but it looks like Lazio is set to have their second signing, following Riza Durmisi from Sevilla.
