With Lazio looking to reinforce their defensive ranks this summer, the pursuit for RB Salzburg’s Duje Ćaleta-Car is heating up.
Lazio already have been in contact with RB Salzburg this summer after their negotiations for Valon Berisha. The Kosovo international had a €7 million release clause, which could be activated by the player himself, but Lazio are interested in paying more than this to ensure a strong relationship with the Austrian club. This will become useful when Igli Tare is negotiating for Ćaleta-Car.
The 21-year-old had a strong season for RB Salzburg last season, making 47 appearances for the club and even chipped in offensively with two goals and three assists. His strong play was noticed by the Croatian national team and he is currently in Russia playing in the World Cup.
Lazio is looking to move Wallace on this summer in order to open up a non-EU spot in the squad and Ćaleta-Car is seen as the perfect replacement. The Biancocelesti have offered RB Salzburg €7 million for the defender despite the Austrian club’s €10 million valuation. However, it is more than likely that Lazio will be provided a discount because of the Berisha transfer.
