After reports had circled at the beginning of the month stating that Lazio were looking for a goalkeeper, many were surprised to find out that just one day after these reports, an agreement had been reached with a goalkeeper from Greece.
His name? Silvio Proto – a 35-year-old Belgian who has been with Greek club Olympiakos since 2017. Previously, Proto spent most of his career in his native country, playing for Anderlecht where he obtained 286 appearances from 2005 to 2016. He won a Belgian Cup, five championships and five Belgian Supercups with the club, before departing to KV Oostende for a short stint.
This will be a free reinforcement and transfer for Lazio, who will take Proto to be the second string goalkeeper for the club,
As reported by Sky Sports journalist Manuele Baiocchini, Proto has now officially signed with the biancocelesti, arriving after a season in which he collected 22 appearances in the Super League and 3 in the Champions League.
