A stunning fourth win in as many starts for Martin Caceres during this World Cup journey with Uruguay, as his side defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal last night.
This time, he started alongside familiar Serie-A faces: Laxalt, Torreria, Bentancur and Vecino.
Whilst, those who have followed Serie A in the last decade should be familiar with Cavani and Muslera as well.
The inclusion of Laxalt in the left back position helped Caceres, who was placed in his natural/preferable position as a right back.
His presence in the right flank felt strong. He was full of confidence and dispossessed every single threat coming at him – including many head to head battle against the prominent Cristiano Ronaldo.
Solid in defence, vital in attack. Caceres wasn’t shy to join in Uruguay attacks (which were mostly from the right side). He played a crucial part in keeping pressure and possession.
With yet another convincing performance, Simone Inzaghi may have to rework his tactics to fit Caceres as a regular player in Lazio next season.
Score: 8/10
