Report: Gelson Martins still remains a goal for Lazio

Gelson Martins still remains to be one of Lazio’s top goals, but significant interest from other clubs such as Sevilla, Benfica and Arsenal, the players signature will be quite hard to come by, especially with those aforementioned willing to put forward a monstrous amount of money.

Martins is a free agent this summer after terminating his contact with Sporting Lisbon due to concerns for players, when they were attacked after a training session near the end of last season. According metro.co.uk Martins’ agent had these words to say: “Being the agent of Gelson Martins, I have as a top priority his tranquility, and maximum concentration to be able to do what he knows, professional football” – Ulisses Santos wrote on Facebook – “For this reason, and considering the sports media agenda has been very busy around his future, I come to inform you that Martins’ next club will not be SL Benfica.”

Sporting were looking for a fee around £50million, but now Martins has the luxury to put the pen to the paper wherever he would like. With Portugal out of the world cup he can now concentrate on where his next chapter will take place.
