It is the market purchase that has intrigued most fans and insiders. An important experience in Salzburg, important goals including the one scored on a penalty against Lazio in the quarter-final of the Europa League, the type of player who always gives 100% in the field. This and more is Valon Berisha, a profile strongly wanted and secured by Lazio and that will make his debut in Auronzo in just six days with the biancoceleste. Christoph Freund, sports director of the Austrian club RB Salzburg, spoke to Gazzetta.it’s microphones.
“Berisha is a complete midfielder, he’s good technically and physically strong. He can play in several roles, he’s good both in a midfield with three and in a midfield with two. He can work and play in the inside, or in the regista role (where Lucas Leiva currently plays) or can be deployed even higher up the pitch, in support of the attackers. He is very ambitious and this, at certain levels, definitely helps. He is also very clever, he speaks 4-5 languages perfectly – he quickly learned German which is a difficult language, which shows that he is a man with a head on his shoulders. I am convinced that he will fit in quickly.
“There were several clubs after him, the merit of his arrival is Igli Tare. Tare immediately showed great appreciation and the fact that he spoke to him in Albanian certainly helped. As soon as the Lazio rumours became true, Berisha had no doubts, both for the prestige of the Italian Serie A and for the value of the biancoceleste club”.
His declarations are interesting for possible future negotiations – we are talking in particular about Caleta-Car and Schlager: “Honestly with Tare we did not talk about other players. But he told me that in our squad he thinks there are interesting profiles. Perhaps in the future we could update ourselves. In the next windows of the market, some operations will be possible”.
