The future of Mauricio at Lazio remains uncertain

The Biancocelesti and Mauricio are trying to find the best solution for the Brazilian center-back who remains on contract until June of 2019. Mauricio who was on loan at Legia Warsaw of the Ekstraklasa (Polish League) last season, has now ended his loan spell and will be returning to the Capital ahead of next season. However, the stay is not meant to be long – the player is not said to be included in Simone Inzaghi’s plans.

Mauricio had these words to say surrounding the topic: “A return to Brazil? I do not rule out anything as of today. I have had the opportunity to return to Lazio in the recent weeks. I still want a serious challenge to return to playing a leading role at a club, I have great hopes for the future. At this very moment I still have a contract with Lazio and we will settle my future in a very calmly matter and see where things go, the most important thing is that I am in a good shape.”

Mauricio only appeared in 3 games last season: one for Lazio in the Serie A, and the other two for Legia Warsaw. With the acquisition of Sassuolo’s Francesco Acerbi and experienced defenders like Martin Caceres and Stefan Radu still in the line-up, it is now looking like Mauricio’s time at Lazio will be coming to an end.
