Italian news agency ANSA reports that Lazio striker and Serie A scoring leader Ciro Immobile was threatened at knife-point while on vacation in Abruzzo. Immobile was on the beach in Francavilla al Mare with family and friends, when a man approached him hurling verbal abuse at the player before producing a knife and moving toward Immobile in a threatening manner.
The attacker was ultimately driven off by nearby beach-goers who raised the alarm, and Police have already identified the perpetrator as a ‘rival fan’ with an existing stadium ban and will be pressing charges. Most importantly, Immobile was unhurt in the incident.
