Romulo: “In January I refused the Biancocelesti”

Romulo, along with Caceres, could have become a biancoceleste player directly from Hellas Verona in January. Admitting this speculation was the Brazilian-Italian to the microphones of the Gazzetta dello Sport:

“I received proposals from English, French, Brazilian and Russian clubs, but I wanted to stay in the Serie A TIM. Now I feel Italian, so much so that with my wife we bought a house in Verona and we will stay here to live. We love everything about this country. Me to Lazio? In the last winter transfer market I told them no, I could not leave at that time. I also refused Marseille after the first relegation to the Serie B”.

The now 31-year-old entered the Serie A TIM with Fiorentina in 2011 after 9 years in his native land in Brazil. He then transferred to Verona in 2013 on loan, and signed permanently a year later. A hardworking and experienced center-midfielder and right-back, Lazio were, and still are, looking to reinforce the right-flank with the aging and potential departure of Basta, and Romulo could have been that man. For now however, we wait.
