According to one of the day’s wildest rumours from Mundo Deportivo, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is available for just €80 million.
This is contrary to Claudio Lotito’s own suggestion that Milinkovic-Savic will be available for no less than €150 million, with €155m his asking price.
The same article, from Miguel Rico, suggests that Milinkovic-Savic is a similar player to Paulinho, who recently left the club to re-join Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League.
The truth behind this seems stretched. Why Lotito would be willing to let Milinkovic-Savic go for half his asking price is a puzzle; unless Rico knows something that the rest of the world doesn’t.
If Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was available for just €80 million, it is likely that he would have been the victim of a bid by now; from one of the many clubs that would love to secure his services.
What we can take from this is that some of the media abroad appear to have misinterpreted the deal; or that Lotito has no control over his own deals.
