Report: Lazio continue to show interest in Freuler

After a World Cup with Switzerland in which they finished second in the group stage after draws against Brazil and Costa Rica, and a victory over Serbia (5 points), Remo Freuler and the Swiss moved on to the Round of 16 where they were met by Sweden. A tough team to break-down, they lost by a score of 1-0 to officially end their World Cup run.

Although a player who was left on the bench for every match, Freuler had a terrific season for Atalanta in the Serie A TIM and this did not go unnoticed by Lazio’s Igli Tare and Claudio Lotito. At 26-years of age, Freuler played in 46 matches in all competitions for Gasperini’s side in Bergamo, all as a central midfielder. This was the most out of the entire Atalanta squad, and he managed to secure 6 goals and 4 assists in the progress. He is also a very clean player as he only had 6  yellow cards all season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio in the show L’Originale Calciomercato, Lazio is said to have continued to show interest for the midfielder: the negotiations with the Nerazzurri club move slowly, but the main goal is to secure the player for Simone Inzaghi, and they hope this can be accomplished soon.
