The most prestigious number in calcio, football, soccer. With the departure of Felipe Anderson, the biancocelesti are looking to give the #10 to a new face, and according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, Lazio are looking towards Spaniard Luis Alberto.
Luis Alberto, coming off a record season with Lazio, has been seen signings jerseys with the acronym “LA10” on it, as he joins a very long list of Lazio players to wear the number.
With the acquisition of this number, I think expectations are set to be high for the 25-year-old Spaniard. Lazio failed to go through to the Champions League by one point this past year and everyone knows that this missed opportunity will be a huge motivator for the squad going into the new season. Luis Alberto and Immobile are going to have to be two huge pieces once again for Lazio next year if the biancocelesti are to succeed and try to secure a top 4 spot in Serie A.
Personally, I believe giving the Spaniard the #10 is a great idea. It shows that management are confident in him to lead and to be a ‘go-to’ player moving forward. With the likes of Anderson gone from Lazio, the likes of certain players like Luis Alberto will need to step-up and perform to their best capabilities consistently if Lazio is to succeed.
