The potential transfer of Papu Gomez from Atalanta to Lazio is looking like an increasingly likely possibility. Yesterday, Pietro Lo Monaco, the director of Catania, invited Lazio to Sicily for a friendly so that Gomez can play in his ‘new shirt’ in front of his ‘old fans’ – suggesting his upmost belief in the deal. The latest clue in the Gomez to Lazio deal comes from Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
Now, the Atalanta manager has, according to Radiosei, had a little joke on the possibility of the transfer; yet the joke may not be as trivial as it seems.
“In reality, the voices come only from one side, but he is training well. Maybe because he’s going to Lazio…”
He reportedly ended this with a laugh, but perhaps more of a laugh of uncertainty than one of complete confidence. Lazio want Gomez, Gomez reportedly wants Lazio; could the marriage be taking place shortly?
