According to Il Messaggero, On Monday, both key figures of Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare arrived at Auronzo di Cadore and had a long face to face meeting with Simone Inzaghi and the rest of the staff. The main topic was the transfer market – what is left to be done surrounding the potential arrivals and sales.
On the conversation of arrivals, Claudio Lotito and Lazio are all about ready to switch gears from longly sought Atalanta attacker Papu Gomez. The wanted profile instead of the Argentine is said to be Joaquin Correa of Sevilla FC in Spain’s La Liga.
The reason for this? Both the sporting director of Tare and Lotito want to lower the average age of the squad; this is a main target and strategy to keep the biancocelesti remaining dominant in the years to come. Currently, only Strakosha and Luiz Felipe of the main squad are under 25. For this reason, it is why both Lotito and Tare have spoken to Inzaghi about the Papu situation telling him that they would prefer to focus on a different profile; Correa seems to be the man.
Born in 1994 with a double passport of the countries Argentina and Italy, from 2014 to 2016 Correa was with Sampdoria in the Serie A. He was very young in his first stint in Italy, but he did manage to get some much needed experience: he made 31 appearances and scored 3 goals in his tenure with the club before moving to Spain for around €13 million.
According to Il Messaggero, Lazio are said to have already made an offer for the now 23-year-old: €18 million plus bonuses on a potential 5-year contract making €1.8 million per season. Correa’s agent is Alessandro Lucci (the same as Alessandro Murgia and Filip Djordjevic) who has excellent relations with the biancoceleste leadership.
In addition, the rumours are that the biancocelesti community have also given the green light to the Wesley Moraes operation from Club Brugge. The cost of the operation is said to be around 15 million.
