Report: Basta’s future uncertain, Lazio interested in Lainer and Lazzari

Lazio continue to be active on the market following the high-profile signings of Joaquin Correa and Milan Badelj. As the summer window inches towards an end, questions continue to swirl around the future of star Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic Savic and Ecuadorian striker Felipe Caiceido, but there is another midfielder that is said to have an uncertain future. This man in right full-back Dusan Basta.

Basta joined Lazio from Udinese 4 years ago in 2014 at the age of 29. With just shy of 100 matches played for the biancocelesti it seems like now will be the time that sees the Serbian potentially leave the squad. Cittaceleste report that with Adam Marusic and Patric both ahead of Basta in Inzaghi’s notebook, the now 33-year-old Serbian may be moving on to other opportunities both inside and outside the Serie A.

If this is the case, the preferred replacement is said to be Salzburg’s Stefan Lainer. The 25-year-old Austrian fullback is expected to cost about €15 million and given the clubs’ recent transaction relations the question of Lainer may well have been broached in the Berisha negotiations. The other option for Lazio is Manuel Lazzari from SPAL who would represent a more modest alternative in terms of cost.
