Report: Caicedo to stay in Rome, Rossi to make 23-player roster?

After weeks of speculation, it finally looks like Felipe Caicedo will be staying in Rome. Caicedo was linked to the likes of Fenerbahce, Club America, Leeds, Bursaspor and Real Bettis over the course of a month, but with the market reaching its closure soon, the 29-year-old Ecuadorian will most likely be in the biancocelesti colours once again this upcoming season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Simone Inzaghi would like to keep Caicedo in a biancocelesti uniform. Speculation had it that Lazio would bring in Wesley from Club Brugge but from week-to-week that rumour fell through as it looks like the striker will stay at his respected club. That was the main goal – to replace Caicedo with a new vice-Immobile, but it looks like Lazio will stay with its respected attack, especially with the emerging young Italian forward Alessandro Rossi.

Rossi has made it through the Lazio youth sides dating back to 2011 at the age of 14. He was loaned out to Salernitana last year where he appeared in 27 games scoring only 3 goals, but has impressed in pre-season training where he has scored on multiple occasions: a goal vs SPAL in Lazio’s 3-0 win; three goals vs Top 11 Radio Club; and 7 against CS Auronzo earlier in the training camp. Rossi has turned eyes and will hope to make the 23-man-roster this season – he’s earned the spot.
