Lazio fans got an early scare in the beginning of the week when Sergej Milinkovic-Savic didn’t show up as expected to the medical at Padeia. But news from the agent about a missed flight in Serbia calmed everyone until he finally showed up in Rome. He seemed glad and eager to get the new season started and signed autographs to the gathered fans before entering Padeia.
Chelsea is lately the club that has been most linked with Sergej but there is no sign of concrete negotiation. Lazio want Sergej to stay and are now, according to “La Repubblica”, are willing to double his wages to 3 million euros, plus additional bonuses, bringing the contract expiration to 2023. An offer similar to the one that will be made also to Ciro Immobile, another player that Lazio wants to keep on to.
Elsewhere Sergej would earn figures that are certainly higher, but his will is to give back to the club, which launched him into great football and with which the relationship is great. He wants to stay, at least another year, then we’ll see. Only very high offers could make Lotito change his mind, but the more days that pass, the more unlikely it is that Sergej is leaving.
