Report: Stadium bans for insults on social media?

As a Swede, I sadly remember what happened to the Sweden NT midfielder Jimmy Durmaz after the World Cup game against Germany. Durmaz tragically faced threats, abuse and racism on his Instagram page after he caused the freekick which Germany scored their winner in added time.

According to ”Corriere dello Sport”, these ”keyboard lions”, from this season, could face stadium bans (Daspo) for insulting clubs and players on social media.

For them, in fact, starting from this season of Serie A each Italian club will be able to use a Supporter Liason Officer (SLO), or a real digital controller that monitors the comments on the official social pages of the club.

This will serve to avoid the so-called “shitstorms” of free insults, often fired without even a valid reason through social media.

It only remains to be established what will be viewed as insults and when it is more the right to criticize. Not really a secondary aspect …
