Report: Murgia likely to leave Marienfeld due to the strong competition in midfield
MARIENFELD: Dinner can wait. Simone Inzaghi postpones the meal to complete the first training session in Germany. Intensity, rhythm, and concentration. The second summer retreat in Marienfeld begins along the lines of that of Auronzo di Cadore. The coach asks for concreteness and attention to details. Be less pretentious. A rule that applies to everyone: strikers and midfielders. In the middle the competition is really harsh. Eight players for three places: one regista and two mezzali. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, now called “Sergio” by the fans and teammates, is the regista courted by half of Europe. The one who compliments the regista is Leiva, the coach in the field, and Parolo, one of the senators. If necessary, there is captain Senad Lulic, starter on the left side, but ready to cover every space in midfield.
THE LINEUP: Above is the starting formation. In the second lineup, however, traffic increases. Badelj, a candidate for the role of vice-Leiva for directing traffic, is not afraid of competition. Murgia, hero of the last Supercoppa, is always looking for more space in the squad. Yesterday he trained with a striking bandage on his left hand: there is fear of a fracture that could force him to leave the retreat prematurely. Danilo Cataldi is back with more hunger. Less chance for Bruno Jordao, however, who is preferred to Di Gennaro for the expedition in Westphalia.
