FIFA agent Marchione: “When Keita came to Italy he played well, we must give credit to sporting director Igli Tare”

When we look back into Lazio’s history, Senegalese international and young attacker Keita Baldè Diao is most definitely one of the most promising players to come through Lazio’s youth ranks, who was able to join the first team and become a fan favorite. After a rough end to his Lazio career that saw him force a move [ended up joining Monaco], his time in France may now be over according to many reporters, Gianluca Di Marzio one of these. The interested party seems to be one that knocked on Lazio’s door quite some time ago, a club to the north of Italy: Inter.

Nunzio Marchione, the FIFA agent who brought the player to Italy in 2011, expressed an opinion on the matter. “I was following Keita at Cornellà [where the now 23-year-old spent two years on loan between 2010-2012]. When he came to Italy, he scored lots of goals and played well, but we must give credit to sporting director Igli Tare for believing in him from the start and giving him a chance. It was not initially a purchase from Lazio, as there were passport problems. In fact, the first season that passed, Keita was only able to train and then the next season he was able to become registered. Technically he was already very strong because he was unpredictable, he was playing with both feet. Since then, he has improved a lot. However, he still needs to step up to become a real top player”.
