The start of the Serie A TIM is quickly approaching and with this comes the first match of the season for Lazio against Napoli; a side who beat the biancocelesti 4-1 in both meetings last season in the league. Lazio will look to take the three points this time around, as they look to take advantage of freshly changed Napoli side: Ancelotti has become the new manager; Meret and Karnezis have joined from Udinese; Younes joined on a free transfer, Verdi joined from Bologna; Fabian Ruiz joined from Real Betis; and most recently Malcuit has arrived from Lille. In terms of departures, former coach Sarri has left to Chelsea along with midfielder Jorginho, Zapata has signed with Sampdoria, Reina has left to Milan, and Pavoletti has signed with Cagliari.

However, for the first match of the season, Napoli will be without one of their new signings. This is 21-year-old Italian keeper Alex Meret, who fractured his arm earlier this month on July 11th. Meret’s agent Federico Pastorello confirmed this news in an interview with RMC Sport.

“Alex is fine. Presumably, he will be able to return on September 16 for the match against Fiorentina, after the National [team] break. We are considering taking advantage of this pause in the season to take more days off to use for the healing process. He could be back on the bench before this, but we do not want to rush it – September 16th should be the right date”.

Meret transferred to Napoli for a fee of around £20 million during this summer transfer window, arriving from Udinese. After two years spent on loan at SPAL, it was time for him to move to a bigger club. In total, Meret has made 13 starts in the Serie A so far, all coming from this past season before a shoulder injury near the finale of the campaign.
