Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been surrounded by rumors all summer and Lazio has been said to be willing to double his wages in order to keep him the prized midfielder in Rome. Claudio Lotito has now according to reports from La Repubblica set a deadline for any concrete offers for Milinkovic-Savic: the offers MUST be submitted by Sunday, otherwise, he will remain with Lazio.
The transfer window in England reached its finale yesterday and therefore clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea are, at least for now, out of the race for the Serbian midfielder.
Real Madrid has been mentioned as the strongest contender, especially after the departure of Mateo Kovacic to Chelsea and if the potential departure of Luka Modric to Inter.
However, Real Madrid officials spoke to Libertas Digital about the situation: ”Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is a great player, but the club does not have an intention to buy him.” This may be a smokescreen, but Claudio Lotito has reportedly demanded 150 million euros with no form of a loan and technical counterparts for the player – something that may be putting most clubs off.
