Nesta: “Coach Lazio? Maybe! Milinkovic-Savic? He is a great player…”

An Italian homegrown from Lazio’s youth systems, Alessandro Nesta was widely regarded as one of the best defenders to ever play the game. 17 years with Lazio [1985-1993 youth sides; 1993-2002 senior side], Nesta will always be remembered for Laziali. As of May 14th, the defender-now-manager took on the role of head coach at A.C. Perugia in the Serie B, and today, he spoke to RMC Sport about Lazio.

On Simone Inzaghi: “He has given a clear identity to a team made up of very good players. I did not expect it, at all; I played together with Inzaghi for several years, but I did not think he could become so good as a coach. He has done an incredible job.”

On Milinkovic-Savic: “Milinkovic? He is a great player that Simone would always want to have in his team. Whether he stays or not will depend on what offers arrive in the coming days.”

On coaching Lazio: “Maybe, to get to that position it would have to mean that I have done a good job coaching!”
